In 2013 a group of Dundas 55+ers received a “New Horizons for Seniors” grant. They organized a town hall meeting for all older Dundasians with help from the Hamilton Council on Aging. The town hall participants identified two major concerns: lack of information regarding 55+ services and the need for a local seniors’ centre. The organizers of the town hall meeting are known today as the Dundas 55+ Group. The Group, comprised entirely of volunteers began meeting regularly with the goal of addressing the two issues raised at the town hall meeting. Over the next years, with funds from the Dougher Foundation, and with help from many community partners, the group created and launched a website called InfoSpot. The website was designed as a user-friendly platform to provide an array of helpful information to older adults. In September 2016 the Dundas 55+ Group, with support from the City of Hamilton Recreation Division, Senior Services began offering a variety of affordable programs for seniors at the Dundas Community Centre.
